James Preston abandons his wife, Clara Carter, to pursue Isabella Graham. After her uncle’s death, Clara unexpectedly inherits the chairmanship of Rivera Group, with business titan Charles West as her ally. Major companies rush to befriend her. Out of past affection, Clara gives James two signed invitations, which he dismisses. Later, at the board meeting of Rivera Group, James and Isabella are stunned to see the former vegetable seller Clara as the new chair, and their regret comes far too late.
