Claire Ashcroft goes on a three-year military campaign by royal order. Her husband Julian Blake retires per his late parents’ wish, waiting for her return. Before she leaves, he gifts her a crimson spear forged from ancient cold iron. Three years later, Claire comes home in silver armor, pregnant and arm in arm with another man, leaving him a divorce letter. Julian takes it silently, dons his marshal armor and takes up his overlord spear. Only then does Claire realize the good-for-nothing husband she once scorns is the true guardian god of the empire.
